The five elements, and the directions they hold

Everything in this catalogue is organised around these five. Each governs a part of daily life and sits in a specific zone of a home, which is what makes a remedy specific rather than general.

Fire Agni

Southeast · Will, wealth and transformation

Agni is the element that starts things. In Vastu it sits in the Southeast, the corner tied to earning and to the kitchen fire, and it is the first element to thin out under sustained stress.

A weak Fire zone rarely announces itself as a crisis. It shows up as a flat quarter, a stalled decision, or work you can no longer bring yourself to begin. The correction is warmth and activity, not force.

Signs of a weak Fire element. Motivation that arrives late and leaves early. Money decisions you keep postponing. Projects started and abandoned.

Where to start. Feed the Southeast. Carnelian and citrine for daily wear, a copper tree for the corner itself.

Water Jal

Northeast · Emotion, flow and healing

Jal governs emotion and flow. Vastu places it in the Northeast, the direction it treats as most sacred, which is why a Water weakness there tends to affect everything else in the house.

Left uncorrected, a Northeast weakness most often shows up as scattered focus or shallow sleep. Not distress, just a persistent sense that nothing quite lands.

Signs of a weak Water element. Scattered focus and shallow sleep. Feeling drained without a reason you can name. Emotion that arrives late.

Where to start. The Northeast is the most sacred direction in Vastu. Moonstone for daily wear, aquamarine placed near where you rest.

Air Vayu

Northwest · Clarity, breath and movement

Vayu is the element of clarity and movement, and it sits in the Northwest. Of the five, it is the one most affected by physical clutter, which is why the remedy usually starts with clearing rather than adding.

A weak Air element is noisy rather than slow. Thinking speeds up and quality drops, and rest stops feeling restful.

Signs of a weak Air element. A mind that will not settle. Decisions made quickly to stop thinking about them. Breath held without noticing.

Where to start. Amethyst for continuous wear, blue lace agate to hold during breathwork. Keep the Northwest uncluttered.

Earth Prithvi

Southwest · Grounding, stability and home

Prithvi holds a household together. Vastu places it in the Southwest, the heaviest corner of the home, and Earth remedies are the ones that most reward permanence.

This is the element to look at after a move, a renovation, or any year in which the ground moved under you.

Signs of a weak Earth element. Restlessness that rest does not fix. A home that never quite feels settled. Commitments that are easy to make and hard to hold.

Where to start. Black tourmaline for daily wear. Earth corrections benefit from mass, so a jade tree in the Southwest does more than a small stone.

Space Akash

Centre, the Brahmasthan · Intuition, expansion and spirit

Akash sits at the centre of a home, the Brahmasthan, and it is the zone most often built over and least often corrected. Modern floor plans put a wall, a staircase or a bathroom exactly where Vastu asks for open air.

A weak Space element does not feel like anything is wrong. It feels like the gap between thinking and knowing has widened.

Signs of a weak Space element. Intuition you no longer trust. Decisions that get slower rather than worse. A house that feels busy rather than unstable.

Where to start. Keep the Brahmasthan open. Selenite at the centre, lapis lazuli for daily wear.
